Uganda electricity regulator reduces rates
April 24—The Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA), Uganda’s regulator, has reduced rates across the board for the second quarter of 2017 which applies for the period April – June 2017.
The Domestic Tariff has been reduced from UGX 696.9/= per unit to 687.1/= per Unit. The first 15 units remain at UGX 150/= each. The Time of Use Commercial Average tariff previously at UGX 629/= per Kwh is now UGX 620.9/= per kWh.
Medium Industries will, on average, now pay UGX 569.7/= per kWh, instead of UGX 577.8/= per kWh the previous quarter. Large industries’ average cost will be UGX 370.2/= per kWh, down from UGX 376.3/= per kWh the previous quarter.
