Air Tanzania returns to Johannesburg starting November 30
Flag carrier Air Tanzania ATC, has set November 30, for the relaunch of its service to Johannesburg, increasing options for southbound passengers out of East Africa.
According to officials, the flights, which return after a long hiatus, will be available four times a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. They will be operated using a Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft configured to 181 seats with 16 in Business Class and 165 in Economy.
All flights will be daytime with the outbound flight TC208 depart Dar es Salaam Julius Nyerere International Airport at 11.00h, arriving Johannesburg O R Tambo at 13.15 local. The return flight TC209 will depart Johannesburg O R Tambo at 14.15 local and arrive in Dar es Salaam Julius Nyerere International at 18.30.
ATC joins South Africa’s Airlink as the only airline offering a non-stop service between Dar and Jo’burg. There will also be opportunities for connecting traffic from Uganda, Kenya and Zanzibar, which is currently served with a direct flight to Joburg by Safair.
Dar-Jobur’g generates strong business and leisure traffic, with South Africa registered carrier Airlink currently operating 8 flights a week using its 98 seat Embraer190. South African Airways SAA, also plans to return to the route starting January 20, 2025. SAA will operate daily, using an A320.
