Uganda picks oil refining company chief
Kampala January 10 – Uganda has selected Michael Nkambo Mugerwa as the General Manager for its newly set up Uganda Refinery Holding Company Limited (URCL), a subsidiary of the Uganda National Oil Company.
A Chemical Engineer, Mugerwa comes with more than 20 years of experience in the oil refining industry. Prior to this appointment, he has managed the engineering, procurement and construction aspects of large capital
refining projects during his tenure at TECHNIP, a leading EPC contractor for the oil, gas and petrochemical industries in the USA.
As the General Manager at URCL, Mugerwa will be tasked with leading the structuring and development of the first oil refinery in Uganda. He holds a PHD, Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom.
