Uganda earned $400 million from Coffee
KAMPALA, JANUARY21 – Uganda fetched $35.84 million from 342,429 sixty kilogramme bags of coffee exported during December 2015 bringing the total for the first quarter of the 2015/16 coffee year to 815,208 bags, according to a performance report released by the Uganda Coffee Development Authority January 20.
That brought total exports for calendar 2015 to 3.6 million bags earning the country $402 million. This compares with the 3.47 million bags that fetched $ 405 million in earnings. That represented a 0.74 percent penalty on earnings against a 3.7 percent increase in volume, the UCDA said.
Robusta continued to dominate volumes for the year, accounting for 2.78 million bags.
