Uganda Airlines firms up Dec18 for Kinshasa service, Johannesburg slips to January ’21
Uganda airlines expects to take the final delivery of its A330-800 order next week
Uganda Airlines has confirmed December 18, as the start date for its long-awaited inaugural service to Kinshasa. The triweekly service that will be launched using the Mitsubishi-CRJ 900 will operate on Fridays, Sundays and Tuesdays, offering convenient intervals for leisure and business travel to the city by the River Congo.
Roger Wamara, the Commercial Director says bookings were off to a slow start but not surprising in the circumstances.
“The new requirements for travel under the Covid-19 pandemic have definitely suppressed demand. But it was necessary that we get in there and integrate Kinshasa into our network,” he said.
He also explained that the launch of Johannesburg and Lusaka which had also been scheduled for December, has been pushed back to January 2021.
Kinshasa becomes the sixth destination in the post-Covid network since the carrier resumed flying in October and the ninth overall since the airline started operations in august 2019.
