Stanchart pulls branch network in wake of Covid-19 disruptions
Ugandan lender Standard Chartered has suspended services at four of its seven branches, referring customers to alternative channels.
In a notice mailed on March 31, the bank announced a 14 day suspension of services at its City, Garden City, Acacia and Village Mall branches. Effective April 1, only the Jinja, Speke Road and Lugogo Mall branches will remain open from nine to three five days a week.
Customers are advised to use the bank’s digital channels which include online banking and straight to bank services for bulk payments by businesses and corporate entities.
“Please be advised that straight to bank and online banking transactions will not be impacted by the branch operating hours,” the statement said.
The suspension is in line with the current restrictions on movements aimed at breaking the transmission of COVID-19.
