Marie Stopes opens fully fledged hospital in Kampala

Sexual and reproductive services provider Marie Stopes Uganda, has opened an out and inpatient healthcare facility at Kampala’s Lugogo Mall, expanding the range of services available to women.
Launched on October 12, the 24-hour facility offers outpatient services including general medical consultations and treatment, day surgeries such as male circumcision, vasectomy and tubal ligations; treatment for fibroids, infertility evaluation, Cervical cancer screening and treatment of pre-cancerous lesions. Those will be in addition to family planning, post-abortion care and treatment of sexually transmitted infections.
The maternity wing will provide normal and Caesarian deliveries. The diagnostics department has the latest ultrasound with a capability for linear probes, trans-vaginal scans and 4D scans.
Through its 15 clinics and 150 franchise partners spread across 71 districts, Marie Stopes last year met 30pc the family planning services that were demanded some 1.8 million users.
