Airlink migrates Luanda operations to new Dr Agostinho Neto International Airport from March 1
Airlink will shift its Johannesburg – Luanda services to Luanda’s newly commissioned Dr Agostinho Neto International Airport (NBJ) from March 1, 2026, aligning with the country’s aviation infrastructure transition.
Airlink will relocate its Luanda operations to the newly commissioned Dr Agostinho Neto International Airport (NBJ) from Sunday, March 1, 2026, marking a key operational shift in line with Angola’s ongoing aviation infrastructure upgrade.
The Southern African carrier currently operates its Luanda services via 4 de Fevereiro International Airport. The transition follows the Angolan government’s phased transfer of both international and domestic services to the new facility, located approximately 45 kilometres east of the capital.
The move comes as the country advances economic diversification and expanding regional connectivity.
Airlink CEO de Villiers Englebrecht said Angola continues to grow in strategic importance for the airline’s regional network, particularly in business travel.
“With Angola’s economic diversification and growth strategy, the country is rapidly emerging as an important Airlink market for business travel, with Luanda as the primary gateway. The state-of-the-art new airport promises to facilitate smooth and efficient passenger, baggage and cargo flows, and a comfortable experience for our travellers,” he said.
Airlink launched its Johannesburg–Luanda service in 2021 and currently operates four weekly return flights between the two commercial centres. The route connects OR Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg with Luanda, strengthening trade and investment links between South Africa and Angola.
From March 1, flights will operate to and from NBJ on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays using Embraer E190 aircraft. Airlink services will operate from Gate B20 at the International Terminal of the new airport.
Flight 4Z 044 will depart Johannesburg at 09:40 and arrive in Luanda at 12:30. The return service, Flight 4Z 045, will depart Luanda at 13:25 and arrive in Johannesburg at 17:50. All times are local.
With the move to Dr Agostinho Neto International Airport, Airlink consolidates its presence in a market it views as increasingly strategic, reinforcing its role in connecting Southern Africa’s key commercial centres.
