July 22—Dogo Singh has been appointed the new Head of Bancassurance at Stanbic Bank Uganda (SBU).

Distribution of insurance products through banks has now become widespread across the world and in 2017 SBU was the first to be licensed in Uganda. This follows amendments to the Financial Institutions Act that paved the way for this line of business.

Singh’s role is to oversee the banassurance side of business at the bank and the job of winning and growing the bancassurance clientele.

Insurance companies see bancassurance as a way for increasing their market penetration and premium turnover. On the other hand, the customer sees it in terms of reduced prices, higher quality products and more convenience.

Expectations are banks, such as Stanbic can become significant distributors of insurance related products and services in the years to come and give a fuller meaning to the concept of universal banking.

Singh has over 15 years work experience having previously worked with DHL and most recently UAP Old Mutual in different roles. He has a very good comprehension of under writing and business acquisition and business management and a strong knowledge of people management. He has managed about 250 people of different capacities both directly and indirectly. Singh has a passion for mentorship, and empowering young people.

He is a board member of AIESEC which is an international exchange program for students and a board member for PublicHealth Ambassador Uganda. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree and an MBA in business.
