Ethiopian announces New York service
KAMPALA, APRIL 15 – Twelve years after it suspended services to the Big Apple, Ethiopian Airlines is set to resume flights to New York starting July 3.
Scheduled to operate three times a week, the flights that will operate via the Togolese capita Lome will terminate at Newark Liberty International Airport.
“New York is one of the world’s most economically powerful cities and including it in our ever expanding network will play a critical role in the expansion of trade, tourism and investment between the fast growing continent of Africa and the United States,” said Tewolde GebreMariam, chief executive officer, Ethiopian Airlines Group.
Ethiopian suspended axed the Addis-New York service in 2004, leaving it with Washington as the only flight to continental America but the past two years have seen an aggressive return with a new service to Los Angeles and another to Toronto.
