Old Mutual partners with NxtPe and Airtel Money to streamline insurance premium payments

In a move set to revolutionize how life insurance premiums are paid in Uganda, Old Mutual Life Assurance has announced a strategic partnership with digital payment platform NxtPe and mobile money provider Airtel Money. The collaboration introduces a user-friendly, fully digital solution that allows customers to pay their life insurance premiums instantly and securely via Airtel Money.
At the heart of this new service is the ability for customers to not only make one-time payments but also set up standing orders directly from their Airtel Money wallets—removing the need for traditional bank standing orders. This development is designed to increase convenience and control for policyholders, enhancing customer experience through digital efficiency.
Speaking at the launch held at Old Mutual’s head office in Kampala, Joshua Akena, Head of Operations at Old Mutual Life Assurance, expressed enthusiasm for the innovation.
“With NxtPe and Airtel Money, we are placing convenience in the hands of our customers,” Akena said. “Whether you’re at home or on the go, you can pay your life insurance premiums with just a few taps. The ability to set up automatic payments gives customers peace of mind and full control.”
The initiative is aligned with Airtel Money’s broader mission to promote digital financial services across Uganda, particularly in underserved and remote areas.
Japhet Aritho, Managing Director of Airtel Mobile Commerce Uganda Limited (AMCUL), highlighted the impact of the partnership:
“At Airtel Money, we believe in enabling every Ugandan to do more. This partnership reflects our commitment to simplifying everyday financial services while deepening insurance penetration in the country. It’s digital inclusion with real-life impact.”
