A330neo traction continues into 2025
Uganda Airlines A330-800neo. The A330neos larger variant has continued to experience strong traction
European airframer Airbus continued to register strong interest in its second widebody offering, the A330neo, garnering 10 orders for they type during the first month of the year. In sales figures released today, Airbus reported 55 gross order intakes for January, split between the A320,A330 and A350 families.
The A320neo family neo led the table with orders for 25 A320neos and a single A321neo. This was followed by 19 orders for the A350, split between 8 freighters, six-900s and five -1000s. The A330-900, which achieved 82 orders in 2024, opened the year with additional orders for 10.
Net orders settled at 51, following cancellations for three A320s and a single A220. January’s orders take the A330neos firm tally to 384 aircraft.
Uganda Airlines operates two examples of the smaller but ultra-long range A330-800, whose sales have been slower as the bigger networks carriers prefer the larger capacity of the -900. Targeted at the replacement market for the legacy A330-200, sales of the -800 sales have also been slow because of the large number of relatively young A330-200 airframes in operation.
Airbus delivered 766 aircraft in 2024, against initial projections for 787 deliveries.
