TAAG Angola Airlines hits 1000 passenger milestone on Luanda-Nairobi route 28 days after launch
TAAG Angola Airlines ferried 1,066 passengers on its new Luanda–Nairobi service during the first 28 days of operation, highlighting the pent-up demand for intra-African connectivity and potential for new city pairs.
The Nairobi link expands TAAG’s regional footprint, complementing services to Johannesburg, Lagos, Maputo, and Cape Town while feeding long-haul destinations such as São Paulo. The airline says the growth confirms its role as a driver of African connectivity, with traffic rising above the regional industry average.
TAAG is also pushing ahead with transformation measures, including a recent partnership with Menzies Aviation to boost efficiency. Fleet renewal is advancing with the early October delivery of a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner — two years ahead of schedule — following direct negotiations with Boeing. The aircraft will arrive in economy and premium economy configuration, with potential for later adjustments to meet passenger preferences.
“The sustained growth we are witnessing confirms TAAG’s importance in African connectivity. Luanda is today a key gateway between Africa and the world, and fleet expansion is a natural response to rising demand,” said Clóvis Rosa, Chairman of TAAG’s Board of Directors.
The airline is entering its most significant expansion phase in recent history, positioning itself as a leader in regional mobility and a strategic bridge linking Africa with the world.
