Exim Bank Uganda Backs Yangtze Industry Expansion into Manufacturing
Exim Bank Uganda has financed Yangtze Industry’s expansion into glue manufacturing with a new production facility at Mbale Industrial Park.
Exim Bank Uganda has provided financing support to Yangtze Industry Ltd as the company expands into manufacturing with a new glue production facility at the Sino-Uganda Mbale Industrial Park.
The facility, officially inaugurated on October 1, marks Yangtze Industry’s move into local production and adds to manufacturing activity at the industrial park, with the company positioning the plant to serve Uganda and wider regional markets.
The inauguration was presided over by Minister of State for Local Government Balaam Barugahara and attended by business leaders, industry stakeholders, industrial park administrators and representatives of Exim Bank Uganda.
Barugahara commended the investment, saying private-sector capital and access to financing would remain important to Uganda’s efforts to expand productive capacity and create employment.
He also recognised Exim Bank Uganda’s role in financing the project, highlighting the importance of cooperation between financial institutions and businesses in supporting industrial investment.
For Exim Bank Uganda, the Yangtze Industry project forms part of its broader approach to financing businesses as they invest in productive assets and expand their operations. The bank said its support includes financing for capital investment as well as financial solutions covering cash-flow management and trade finance.
The bank was represented at the inauguration by Deputy CEO Anthony Mariiro, Head of Business Banking Francis K. Mulero and Relationship Manager Proscovia Mwanje Nabulya.
The new facility is located within the Sino-Uganda Mbale Industrial Park, one of the industrial zones being developed to attract manufacturing investment and increase value addition in Uganda.
The expansion comes as Uganda continues to seek greater domestic production of manufactured goods, while businesses face the need for financing to acquire equipment, establish production lines and manage working capital as they scale.
The inauguration concluded with a tour of the manufacturing facility and a networking session involving business leaders, trade partners and other stakeholders.
