Bejeweled Emirates Boeing gets tongues wagging
December 12, 2018—Emirates Airlines with its hub in Dubai, the commercial capital of wealthy United Arab Emirates (UAE), is known for firsts. But the latest photo of a bejeweled Boeing 777 took millions on the internet by surprise on Monday.
First reactions were of indignation and wonder before people realized Emirates had tweeted a doctored photo of the aircraft with the exterior decked out in diamonds and the caption, “Presenting the Emirates ‘Bling’ 777’”.
Apparently, the post was an artwork created by award-winning crystal artist Sara Shakeel and originally posted on her Instagram account.
Emirates was the first to order for the giant Airbus 380 and widely considered the best in-flight entertainment carrier in the world. However, last month the airline reported a sharp fall in profits due to rising oil prices.
