TAAG makes first commercial Airbus A220-300 flight
TAAG Angola Airlines on Friday performed a service from Luanda to São Tomé using the Airbus A220-300, marking the first commercial flight with the jet joined the fleet at the end of September.
The inaugural commercial flight which departed Luanda International Airport with a mix of revenue passengers and C-level executives on board, was welcomed upon arrival, by Ambassador Fidelino Peliganga, Angola´s Ambassador envoy to São Tomé and Príncipe.
According to TAAG, the around trip registered some 200 passengers who praised aircraft’s overall ambiance and minimal noise footprint.
The same aircraft later operated a domestic flight from Luanda, to the tourist city of Benguela, carrying 240 passengers on the round trip. Configured to a two-class cabin, A220s have a capacity for 137 passengers split between 12 in business class and 125 in economy class).
TAAG will use its A220s to serve high density domestic routes and regional destinations such as Johannesburg.
The flag carrier also used the A220-300 to introduce its new livery, whose main feature is the Palanca, the endangered giant sable antelope -Angola’s national symbol- on the plane’s tail and wings.
