Pearl Dairy Farms Limited, the manufacturer of Lato Milk branded products, was awarded ‘Best Dairy Processing Company in Uganda’ by The Visionaries of Uganda Advisory Board. The Vice President Edward Ssekandi presided over the recent event.

The Mbarara-based dairy processor in western Uganda was among the 30 government and private entities that were recognised and awarded with certificates at a ceremony held at Serena Hotel in Kampala. The selected winners were being acknowledged for their efforts in helping achieve the Uganda’s Vision 2040 goals.

Pearl Dairy General Manager, Bijoy Varghese said the company was recognised for its quality dairy products that have put Uganda on the international market and for contributions towards improving nutrition in Uganda and being a  trendsetter for innovation in the dairy sector.

He said, “Pearl Dairy has over the years continued to innovate and produce more quality dairy products like, powder milk, processed UHT milk, flavoured milk, flavoured yoghurt, and ghee. We have recently extended to other markets on the African continent like South Sudan, Malawi and Ethiopia. Our products are of high quality and it’s an honour that we have been recognised as the best.”

The Visionaries of Uganda organised the annual awards in partnership with the National Planning Authority under the theme; “Celebrating Dynamic Leadership and Strengthening the Fundamentals of the Economy to Realise the Uganda Vision 2040.”

Other winners were the National Drug Authority (NDA) as ‘Best Visionary, Health Government Regulatory Agency of the year’. The Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT) took ‘Best Quality Assurance Body’ while  Biplous Uganda emerged as ‘Best Furniture Company in Uganda’. Case Clinic won ‘Best Health Care Provider’ while Uganda Printing and Publishing Company took ‘Best Government Printing Agency’.
