Dedicated service earns Equity Bank guard surprise UGX 0.5 million handshake
It is not everyday that duty with courtesy gets noticed , or turns into good fortune for those who go out of their way to give their best. But that is exactly what happened to Betty Akia, a guard at the security screening point at Equity Bank Uganda’s Church House branch, after Margret Abwoyo, a customer, shared on the social media platform X, about her gratuitous experience on the occasions she has visited the bank.
In response, Equity Bank surprised Betty with Managing Director Gift Shoko handing her a monetary reward of UGX 0.5 million on Friday April 11. Shoko said the token, given in appreciation of her “remarkable service,” was a celebration of her being a true representation of the “Equity Spirit, where every team member plays a crucial role in delivering value to our customers.”
“We are thrilled to shine a spotlight on Betty Akia, our incredible security guard at the Church House branch, for going above and beyond in delivering exceptional customer service,” the bank said adding that Betty’s recognition underscored its commitment to fostering a culture of excellence and appreciation among its staff.
