betPAWA breaks the bank with record UGX114bn payout in ten days
The Ugandan unit of online betting firm betPawa has set a record, making a gross payout of UGX 114 billion over a consecutive ten-day stretch. The money was won by 421,046 customers with the betting site settling all winning betslips.
One of the most notable wins was UGX 277 million from a UGX 50,000 stake, for betting on 27 legs. A further 7,568 gamblers won at least UGX 1 million or more. Across Africa, the firm, which operates in 11 markets, had a record 27,938 of their customers become millionaires over the last 10 days.
“We know how important it is for customers to be able to trust that they will get their winnings any time they win, so we’re pleased that even in a week of winning, unlike anything Uganda has ever seen before, we could honour that commitment to our customers,” said betPAWA Uganda Marketing Manager Ivy Igunduura.
Buoyed by the Ugandan bids, the combined payout across the 11 markets where it operates in Africa, reached a record UGX 289.9 billion ($77 Million) over the 10-day period under reference.
Owned by Rwanda-based Mchezo Limited, betPawa is active in 11 markets in Africa with more than ten million users so far. The firm recently signed a deal with FUFA, under which it will support the Big League and Futsal with the betPawa brand featuring as title sponsors.
