Uganda Waragi scoops 3 Golds at African Marketing Confederation Awards in Accra
Uganda Waragi, the Spirit of Uganda, emerged as one of the standout winners at this year’s African Marketing Confederation (AMC) Awards, clinching three top honours, including the coveted Brand of the Year title.
The Ugandan gin brand, owned by Uganda Breweries Limited, also scooped Gold for Best Social Media Campaign of the Year with its “Arresting Attention” campaign, and walked away with Gold for Most Effective Campaign for its “From Limited Edition to Limitless Icon” initiative.
The AMC Awards, presented at a gala dinner at Accra’s Labadi Beach Hotel on August 22, celebrated excellence in marketing across Africa, with entries drawn from more than 60 nominations spanning multiple countries.
AMC President and Co-Founder, Helen McIntee-Carlisle, said the calibre of entries was a testament to the creativity and innovation driving Africa’s marketing sector. “With nominations from all over the continent, the judges faced a tough task in selecting the final winners. We are pleased to have identified the leading marketing stars from throughout the continent,” she said.
The 2025 awards recognised campaigns and brands that best reflected the conference theme: “Thriving in Africa’s Evolving Markets: Trust, Trends, and Technology.” Winners came from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia and beyond, showcasing the depth of marketing talent across the region.
Other notable victories included Cadbury’s campaign “Give A Generous Voice to Storytime,” which won both Campaign of the Year and Gold in Best Use of Local Insights, and Zambia Tourism Agency’s “Visit Zambia” campaign, which took home Best Tourism & Destination Marketing Campaign.
McIntee-Carlisle noted that the AMC Awards are not only about celebrating individual achievement but also about spotlighting Africa’s creative and diverse marketing landscape. “They highlight Africa’s creativity and commitment to diversity with every nomination and award,” she said, adding that participation also opens doors to collaboration, investment and international recognition.
