Turkish ups Entebbe service to 9 flights a week
Turkish Airlines has expanded its summer service to Uganda from seven to nine flights a week, signalling a growth in the market that could result in non-stop services between Entebbe and Istanbul.
According to the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA), the airline’s approved summer schedule for Entebbe now has two additional weekly frequencies.
“Previously, the airline had one (1) daily flight, but a second flight was added on Fridays and Sundays for the period between July to October 2025,” UCAA manager for public affairs Vianney Luggya said in response to enquiries by 256BN. “Their weekly frequency to Entebbe International Airport is now nine (9).”
Operating on Fridays and Sundays, the service is decoupled from the regular daily service to Entebbe via Kigali. Operated using B737-8 and A330 ceo aircraft, the inbound TK 591 departs Istanbul at 2am local, arriving in Entebbe shortly after 8am local time. The reciprocal TK 592 is scheduled for 9.30 am, arriving in Istanbul in the late afternoon.
Turkish began scheduled flight services to Entebbe, on June 13, 2010, with a service tagged to Dar es Salaam. Unlike the current arrangement however, that service was non-stop with both the inbound and outbound legs making stops at Entebbe before proceeding either north or south.
The tag to Dar es Salaam was later transferred to Kigali service as the Tanzania market grew to a point where it could support an independent service. The regular service via Kigali departs Istanbul at 7pm local time, eventually touching down in Entebbe at 4.am daily.
