TAAG Angola Airlines has received its third Boeing 787 Dreamliner, marking another milestone in the flag carrier’s ongoing fleet modernisation strategy and coinciding symbolically with Angola’s 50th Independence anniversary.

The new aircraft — a Boeing 787-10 registered as D2-TES — touched down at Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport (NBJ) in Luanda on Tuesday morning, carrying a commemorative emblem celebrating the nation’s Golden Jubilee. It is the first of the -10 variant to join TAAG’s fleet, complementing two Boeing 787-9s delivered earlier this year.

Configured to carry 367 passengers — including 24 in business class and 343 in economy — the 787-10 represents the largest and most advanced member of Boeing’s Dreamliner family. With its greater capacity, fuel efficiency, and reduced carbon footprint, the aircraft strengthens TAAG’s commitment to sustainability and operational excellence.

According to the airline, the acquisition of the 787-10 under a leasing arrangement is a core component of its Strategic Plan 2024–2029, which focuses on transforming the national carrier into a competitive, environmentally responsible player in the global aviation industry.

“This delivery reflects our ongoing modernisation drive — a key success factor in TAAG’s transformation journey,” the airline said in a statement. “The Boeing 787-10’s advanced technology not only enhances fuel efficiency but also significantly cuts CO₂ emissions, reaffirming our dedication to sustainable growth.”

Beyond replacing older, less efficient aircraft, the 787-10 is expected to strengthen TAAG’s long-haul network and support the launch of new intercontinental routes. The carrier’s expansion strategy includes deepening connectivity between Africa, Europe, and South America — markets where the Dreamliner’s range and performance offer competitive advantages.

The aircraft’s delivery on Angola’s National Celebration Day added symbolic weight to the event. “The commemorative stamp on the fuselage honoring the 50th Anniversary of Independence signifies not just a national milestone, but also a renewed vision for Angola’s aviation future,” the airline noted.

The arrival of this latest Dreamliner underscores TAAG’s deliberate shift toward a more efficient and passenger-focused fleet, combining modern design, improved cabin comfort, and lower operating costs. Passengers can expect quieter cabins, higher humidity levels, and a smoother ride — hallmarks of Boeing’s latest-generation aircraft.

With the addition of the 787-10, TAAG now operates three Dreamliners in its long-haul fleet, positioning it for improved competitiveness and readiness to explore new opportunities across Africa and beyond.
