TAAG Angola Airlines has announced that it will complete the transfer of all flight operations to the new Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport (NBJ) on October 19, 2025, marking a major milestone in the modernisation of Angola’s aviation infrastructure.

All international flights will shift to the new hub, following the relocation of cargo and domestic operations earlier this year.

The move represents the final phase in TAAG’s gradual transition from 4 de Fevereiro International Airport (AIL) and is expected to deliver significant improvements in operational efficiency, fleet management, and customer experience.

According to the airline, consolidating domestic, regional, and intercontinental operations at NBJ will strengthen Luanda’s position as a key air transport hub for Southern Africa. “This transition empowers the nationwide strategy to establish Luanda and Icolo e Bengo as aviation hubs within the region,” TAAG said in a statement.

From October 19, all flights to and from Lisbon, São Paulo, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Lagos, Windhoek, São Tomé, Maputo, Nairobi, and seasonal routes such as Porto and Havana will operate exclusively from the new airport. Domestic services, along with routes to Brazzaville and Kinshasa, had already been transferred earlier in the year.

Passengers are advised to plan their journeys to the new facility well in advance, as the airport is located on the outskirts of Luanda in Bom Jesus, Icolo e Bengo Province. TAAG will operate a shuttle service between the old and new airports to assist connecting passengers whose itineraries involve airlines that have not yet relocated to NBJ.

TAAG expressed appreciation to its partners and staff for supporting the transition, describing the move as “a unique moment and a new era for civil aviation in Angola.”

The Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport, inaugurated in November 2023, is designed to handle up to 15 million passengers annually and serves as a cornerstone of Angola’s ambition to position Luanda as a major regional aviation hub.
