Abu Dhabi Airports (ADA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with global aviation technology provider SITA to explore the creation of an Intelligent Total Airport Management (iTAM) platform—an AI-powered system designed to transform how airports operate, make decisions, and manage disruptions across the aviation ecosystem.

The proposed platform, which would become one of the world’s earliest end-to-end AI-driven airport management systems, brings together real-time data, predictive analytics, and automated decision-making. Its goal: to boost on-time performance, streamline operations, and support more seamless passenger journeys at a time when global passenger numbers are surging.

With major hubs under pressure to deliver more integrated, passenger-centric operations, ADA aims to build a unified digital operating model that connects airlines, ground handlers, air-traffic control, government agencies, and airport systems. The MoU will see the two organizations explore a shared operational data layer capable of detecting disruptions earlier, coordinating responses faster, and optimizing resources with greater precision.

Andrew Murphy, Chief Information Officer at Abu Dhabi Airports, said the collaboration places Abu Dhabi firmly on the front line of global aviation innovation.

“This collaboration with SITA advances Abu Dhabi’s vision to be at the forefront of global innovation and digital transformation. By enabling Zayed International Airport to become one of the world’s first truly connected digital airports, and by powering this with iTAM at the core, we are creating a unified operational source of truth that accelerates growth and sets a new global benchmark for smart, seamless journeys,” he said.

Selim Bouri, SITA’s President for the Middle East and Africa, underscored the growing complexity of modern airport operations.

“Airports today work in an environment that is more complex and more interconnected than ever. Every operational choice affects airlines, passengers, and partners across the airport. By collaborating with Abu Dhabi Airports, we have an opportunity to co-create a smarter way of working—one that uses data and intelligence to make every decision more predictable and more efficient.”

The partnership will explore how advanced analytics, machine learning, and autonomous workflows can empower operators to manage disruption before it escalates, improve situational awareness, and enhance overall safety and efficiency. The envisioned iTAM platform would provide a scalable foundation for next-generation airport management, supporting continuous improvement and long-term resilience.

The MoU positions Abu Dhabi Airports and SITA as early movers in shaping the future of AI-driven airport operations and setting a template that could influence the global aviation industry.
