Nile Breweries Limited (NBL) has been crowned Employer of the Year 2025, securing the Gold Overall Award at the Employer of the Year Awards (EYA) organized by the Federation of Uganda Employers (FUE).
The recognition, announced at Mestil Hotel Kampala under the theme “Investing in Uganda’s Future: Employers Fostering Job Creation,” placed the beer maker alongside MTN Uganda, which tied for the Gold Overall category. The awards evaluated 132 organizations nationwide, engaging more than 1,300 respondents to assess workplace practices across job creation, diversity and inclusion, decent work, and elimination of child labour.
“This recognition is a powerful testament to the culture we have built at Nile Breweries, one where our people feel valued, supported, and empowered to thrive,” said Martha Nalubega, NBL’s Country People Lead. “It also reaffirms our mission to grow with Uganda, creating jobs, supporting communities, and building a brighter, more sustainable future.”
NBL’s win comes on the back of initiatives such as the Farmers’ Empowerment Program, which equips rural growers with modern farming skills, and the Equality Scholarship Program, which supports pupils from sorghum- and barley-growing communities through to university.
Other notable winners included Coca-Cola (Bronze Overall), Uganda Breweries Limited (Talent Management Award), Harris International (Refugee Employment Award), and Multichoice (Sexual Reproductive Health and Inclusion Award).
Douglas Opio, Chief Executive Officer of FUE, commended the organizations for advancing workplace competitiveness and fostering inclusive practices across Uganda’s labour market.
Reflecting on the achievement, Emmanuel Njuki, Country Legal & Corporate Affairs Lead at NBL, emphasized the company’s ambition to remain Uganda’s employer of choice. “This recognition is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and ownership spirit of our entire team. We remain committed to excellence, innovation, and creating a workplace with more cheers each day.”
