Flexipay-powered Rhythm & Brunch brings Kampala the best of 90s and 2000s R&B
Kampala’s social calendar lit up this past weekend as the Reminisce Rhythm & Brunch Kampala Edition took over Kati Kati Grounds, delivering a pitch-perfect throwback to the golden age of R&B. Organised by Social Ghana Experiences in collaboration with The Reminisce and sponsored by Stanbic Bank’s Flexipay, the event was an unapologetic celebration of 90s and early 2000s rhythm and blues – with one rule: no Amapiano, no Afrobeats, just pure old-school vibes.
The all-star DJ line-up kept the crowd moving from afternoon till late. UK’s Jonny Stone and Handsome Fella shared the decks with Ghana’s DJ Slybeatz and Temple XTD, alongside Uganda’s Timothy Code, DJ Bryan, and Crysto the DJ. Their seamless mixes, crowd engagement, and deep cuts from R&B’s peak years had revellers dancing and singing along all night.
Flexipay kept the momentum high with its Happy Hours, where prices on food, drinks, and merchandise dropped significantly for select periods. The initiative proved a crowd-puller, with many staying longer to enjoy the discounts.
“Seeing so many people relive their favourite R&B moments without worrying about high prices was truly special,” said Joseph Ndoboli, Flexipay Manager. “This is what we mean by more convenience, more fun, and doing what we love for less – perfectly aligned with our purpose: ‘Uganda is our home, we drive her growth.’”
For some, the night was more than just a party – it was a personal time machine. “I have always missed the previous editions because of unavoidable circumstances, but today I made sure I was present,” said reveller Alinda Brenda. “It was a good idea – I have enjoyed!”
The Reminisce brand, launched in 2021 to fill a gap for authentic old-school experiences, has since evolved into a cross-border music phenomenon, recently staging an edition in Rwanda. With the Kampala stop setting a new bar for themed parties, anticipation for the next edition is already building.
