Emirates fare sale adds pressure to Entebbe-Dubai yields
September 13,2018- A special fare offer by Emirates is adding pressure to already depressed yields on the Entebbe-Dubai sector.
One of just two operators offering a direct service between the two cities, Emirates has announced a 16-day fare sale starting September 11, during which travellers from Uganda to Dubai can enjoy heavily discounted all inclusive round trip business and economy class fares.
For just $359, intending travellers who book between now and September 27, can secure economy class travel including a tourist visa valid for one month and 69kg of checked luggage. The corresponding business class fare is $1,309.
When the $90 cost of the tourist visa and airport tax and service charges are removed from the fare, the base fare sinks below the $180 that most Emirates competitors are charging.
This is likely to pile pressure on Emirates competitors whose service includes atleast one stop. Average fares for the sector on carriers such as Ethiopian, Rwandair and Kenya Airways average $395.
The special fares are valid for travel between September 13, 2018 and March 31, 2019.
